 24.1.2023 : ROOM TWENTY-FOUR : Legends of Yore 


Glom, Resh and Salin have a good humour. As time goes by they teach you their ways. How to harvest sufficient foods from plants hidden around the plains. They explain it used to be a fertile meadow before everything changed. There used to be a sky above with stars and moons but now only fog. Some days it comes down thick around us, others it looms over our heads. 

You travel with them on their usual circuit, similar halls in similar abandoned villages. They prefer to keep moving because getting too attached to one place is asking for trouble, bandits will find any settlement and raid it, killing all they find there. 

Occasionally it is necessary to travel into the woods to collect logs to burn. Over time the group have been stockpiling logs in various places, something of a relay. "It was worse the first hundred times but you become used to it." Now they have sufficient stashed away along their route to be able to retrieve whenever necessary. You soon get used to hauling bundles of sticks around with you most of the time. 

"We don't live in the woods because all the bandits there." 

They are wonderful storytellers. They share with you information about how their culture was three generations ago and before that. Stories which will become myths if ever they are shared forward with others in the times beyond this. Often they argue over details or tell different versions of the same tales. You learn a lot from them. 

Life goes on like this for some time until one day Glom says; "It is obvious. Ye are bored and need to travel further on yer ways. There is nothing more from us but the same. You are a Switcher and yer path lays in days to come outside our seeing. We will miss ye but ye must go now, or soon. There is a reason ye came into this world and it ain't to waste yer life away hearing us babble about the world that was." 

He's right. You know he's right. 

Surprisingly, Sesh offers to come with you. She explains she has hidden feelings for you and intends to make sure your way in this world is safer with her as your guide.

You must decide whether to follow Sesh' passage, or

To travel alone in which case you may go; 

West into the Forest, or 

East to the Hills, or 

South to the Port.
