7.1.2023 ROOM SEVEN : the Fallen Tor

Following the narrow footpath through a dense woodland of gnarled trees you arrive in a central clearing with tunnels into the trees. There is a slit of cloudy open sky above. From here the nearby swamp seems a distant memory as this place has such a strong atmosphere of its own.

The ground here is made from a huge, single slab of granite measuring fifty feet long by ten feet wide, raised up above the forest floor. It is tilted slightly so the far end is only a little higher, mostly it is relatively flat considering it’s rough textured surface and indentations. Carved into the granite are strange runes and swirls.

In the centre of the granite slab is a fire-pit, a circle of rocks piled up measuring thee feet diameter. It has not been used for some time.

Alongside the gigantic slab between fruit bushes are several tunnel-like paths into the dark trees. You spend some time collecting and eating the delicious berries, the first food you have had since Clay's rabbit this morning. The berries are unexpectedly filling.

You realise a gloom is coming on. It will be night soon.

Try one of the woodland paths?

Return to the rope ladder up to the treetop platforms?

Try to light the fire
